How many folks would play Phantasy Star Online 2
Do you feel this can lead to other publishers to cheap PSO2 Meseta shy off the west? I believe that’s the true long term worry. They always appear to ignore the free cash on the table by a NA/EU launch of things. They just don’t seem to care for their western audience at all. Since it is pretty much free cash, it is baffling but they can not be arsed to try. I’m beginning to believe it might be too much of a pain and they just can’t be bothered to study it because they’d have to read English. That said I do not believe things will change. I mean that the servers are super full despite all of the issues.
That’s rather harsh rather than understood that the sentiment. Maybe because my initial encounter with Phantasy Star was with PSU so I hold it with a bit more praise (nostalgia) compared to many. Seems from what I could gather it was just some launching issues, lower than meseta prices, and Phantasy Star Online 2 being fairly troublesome as a solo player.
And that is only one ship/server from 3 rather than counting all of the people who refused to leave the JP version. PC users now outnumber XB1 ones. I think SEGA underestimated how much people loved the first PSO, and also just how much interest there still was in a new one — especially with the MMO drought of the last half decade. I think that the collapse of PSU in the west actually turned off them discharging PSO2 with any type of fanfare, but the distinction is that PSU was genuinely an awful game which could not seem to decide if it needed to be one or multiplayer game with the soundtrack being the sole real thing (this is literally just the map select display ). Hell, even in Japan, they dropped the PSU branding and only called it PSO2.
I do think it’s a case of individuals I’d imagine most folks have never played with the first. I believe PC players are only starved for a new MMO experience at the moment. I think everybody is chasing that new MMO high. They have entirely under estimated how many folks would play Phantasy Star Online 2. We have 3 boats, in comparison with the 12 in JP. It’s crazy to me that they’d release a match to this audience and hope for it to perform fine with a fraction of funds. And it showsthe customer can’t manage the number of players packed in the lobbies and half the time is operating 10FPS.
When I finished the tutorial is the outside of hud components, without these difficulties, the very first thing I noted, the user interface is dreadful. Everything is at a submenu, actually bothering anything needs you to right click an item, then go into your character sheet, then realize that, well that was useless as it does not admit that you’re picking a piece of equipment, then go through a separate menu on your character sheet to equip items. Go into this random menu at the shop section, and no where on the page does it tell you how you can use them, don’t worry, just right click this arbitrary section where it essentially says you are going to need to pay, then go into a right-click menu, and can you buy meseta on pso2 among those choices is, out of the like, six, is”use the scratch ticket”.
