The next Animal Crossing: New Horizons event is coming soon

The next Animal Crossing: New Horizons event is coming soon and will presumably coincide with Earth Day on the 22nd April.Nintendo confirmed during a Nintendo Direct Mini at the end of March that a free update coming ‘later in April’ would add “newly-added features including the Earth Day event”. But what exactly is the Earth Day event? Can we expect another festival like the egg-filled Bunny Day?

Earth Day is a real-world event which began in 1970 and focuses on environmentalism and highlighting the natural world. Earth Day takes place on 22nd April annually and in previous Animal Crossing games this event has taken the form of ‘Nature Day’.

Considering how badly received the Bunny Day event was, we hope that Nintendo has made some changes to how they handle events.Players found that too many eggs were appearing instead of actual items they wanted and needed to gather, for example, you’d get fewer stacks of wood from trees or iron nuggets from rocks since they were also spitting out eggs. That may not be all that’s coming to New Horizons this month. During March’s Nintendo Direct Mini, Nintendo teased that the game’s upcoming update will “usher in some newly added features, including the Earth Day event,” suggesting that some other things will be added as well. However, the company didn’t share any further information beyond that.

The same was true for fishing, whereby nearly every medium-sized fish shadow turned out to be a water egg.Until Earth Day rolls around next week, there’s always plenty to do in Animal Crossing. The new season has brought with it new critters to catch, like the incredibly majestic snapping turtles which you can fish out of rivers and lakes at night.
